Time Flies By
Sleep - we're getting there with sleep. From day one I haven't found it too too hard to cope with the lack of sleep. Perhaps it's being used to adapting to different times or hours of sleep which working nights as a nurse brings, I don't know, but i only find it too much if a few rough nights are combined with over active days. We're slowly finding that balance. We have been trying to keep to a bit of a routine and Abbey sticks to it fairly well having a nap in the morning and afternoon and a longer sleep in the middle of the day allowing me to get a few things done and have some lunch in peace. She's in bed by 7pm so we get dinner without interruption and then awake again at 1030pm for a feed that hopefully lasts her till about 3/3:30am and then sleeps till 7am. We've had a few nights where she's been waking at 2am and 5am but last night we got back on track so hopefully she will just wake once again tonight. It seems like we have had it pretty good as far as lack of sleep goes.
please note: we do not endorse co-sleeping, this was just a snuggle time and actually it is Ryan who is asleep
Ryan has employed earplugs and they seem to do the trick. She's not that noisy in the night but we have had the odd problem with a bit of wind which is obviously very uncomfortable for the poor wee soul.
Bath - After a couple of weeks bathing in the sink we progressed to the much more styley bucket which served us well and then just yesterday we graduated to the baby bath (no I haven't cut my hair short and gone totally grey - Grandma did the bathing honours tonight). Abbey has loved the water from day one and really seemed to enjoy a good kick in the bigger bath. I'm sure she'd stay in there a lot longer than I allow her if she had the choice.
Outings -We try and get out and about a bit making the most of sunny days and sleep times as the moment Abbey is put in the pram or car she'll be out to it. We bought a sling which has been fab. There's various ways to carry your child in it and we've tried most of them that are suitable for her at this age. She seems to like it and it is wonderful to have her so close and snugglely. It's great being hands free too. We can go for a walk to the shops for a few things and I can carry her and bags in each hand.
